First New Mexico Bank of Silver City

First New Mexico Bank of Silver City no longer supporting TLS 1.0
First New Mexico Bank of Silver City will no longer be supporting TLS version 1.0 for secure communications after May 22, 2018 in order to align with security industry best practices and changing regulatory requirements.

What is TLS 1.0?
TLS stands for Transport Layer Security and is the most widely deployed security protocol for websites so data can be securely exchanged over the Internet and perform identity verification. The versions of TLS, to date, are TLS 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2.  TLS 1.3 is under development.  First New Mexico Bank of Silver City highly recommends the use of TLS 1.2 for all communications.

What is the change?
First New Mexico Bank of Silver City transactional Internet banking site is requiring an upgrade to TLS 1.1 or higher after May 22, 2018. On that date First New Mexico Bank of Silver City will disable support for the TLS 1.0 encryption protocol, which will prevent customers from using it to access First New Mexico Bank of Silver City Internet banking services.  This change is important to protect the security of our customer's data while they interact with our systems.

How will customers be impacted?
After First New Mexico Bank of Silver City disables TLS 1.0, any connections to the First New Mexico Bank of Silver City Internet banking server that rely on TLS 1.0 will fail.
